Data sources

Every number in a Chainopsy report traces back to something public. Here is what we read, and what we deliberately don't.

On-chain data

Transactions, token transfers, balances, and contract interactions are read from public node and indexer APIs for each supported network. This is the same data any block explorer shows — we aggregate and structure it, we do not add to it.

Pricing

Token prices used to express value in USD are historical market rates at the time of each transaction, from public market data providers. Illiquid and newly launched tokens frequently have no reliable price; those are reported by token amount rather than a fabricated dollar figure.

Labels and attribution

Known-entity labels — exchanges, bridges, mixers, sanctioned addresses — come from public label sets and published sanctions lists. Labels are best-effort and can be stale or wrong. An address that is unlabelled is not thereby “clean”, and a labelled one is not thereby guilty.

What we do not use

  • No private keys, no wallet connections, no transaction signing. Signing in with a wallet is an off-chain proof of ownership only.
  • No KYC databases, no leaked datasets, no purchased identity data. We do not attempt to attach a real-world name to an address.
  • No off-chain surveillance — no IP-to-address correlation, no mempool fingerprinting.

Blind spots we will tell you about

Privacy protocols, cross-chain bridges, and centralised exchange internals break the trail by design. When a flow leaves what we can observe, the report says so rather than guessing where the money went.
